Hello World,

I’m Michael — but most people know me as Data Mining Mike.

Here’s the simple version:

I explore the world through data, stories, and curiosity, and I share what I find.

I’m a data scientist by training, a podcaster by passion, and a puppet master in the making.

My work lives somewhere between analysis and art — part intelligence, part creativity, part “what happens if I follow this weird idea all the way to the end?”

I don’t really sell anything.
I’m not here to pitch services or chase clients.

I make things because I love making things — and because understanding how the world works has always been my obsession.

Sometimes that looks like:

• digging through political data

• reverse-engineering algorithm behavior

• building models just to see why something happens

• investigating online influence

• or breaking apart platforms to understand what makes them tick

Other times it looks like:

• podcast episodes

• deep-dive articles

• experimental media projects

• or yes… designing a future puppet show

The form changes.
The curiosity doesn’t.

Before all this, I spent years in the United States Marine Corps — in combat, in intelligence, in training, in leadership.

That experience taught me how to notice things most people overlook, how to read patterns in human behavior, and how to stay calm inside chaos.
I still use those skills every day — just in very different environments.
